Advanced structural analysis par Menon, Devdas Publication : Oxford Alpha Science Intl Ltd 2009 . 681 p. , Advanced Structural Analysis is a textbook that essentially covers matrix analysis of structures, presented in a fresh and insightful way. This book is an extension of the author s basic book on Structural Analysis. The initial three chapters review the basic concepts in structural analysis and matrix algebra, and show how the latter provides an excellent mathematical framework for the former. The next three chapters discuss in detail and demonstrate through many examples how matrix methods can be applied to linear static analysis of skeletal structures (plane and space trusses; beams and grids; plane and space frames) by the stiffness method. Also, it is shown how simple structures can be conveniently solved using a reduced stiffness formulation, involving far less computational effort. The flexibility method is also discussed. Finally, in the seventh chapter, analysis of elastic instability and second-order response is discussed in detail. The main objective is to enable the student to have a good grasp of all the fundamental issues in these advanced topics in Structural Analysis, besides enjoying the learning process, and developing analytical and intuitive skills. With these strong fundamentals, the student will be well prepared to explore and understand further topics like Finite Elements Analysis. 25 cm. Civil engineering materials and their testing par Hasan, Syed Danish. Publication : [S.l.] Alpha Science Intl Ltd 2006 . 120 p. , "Civil Engineering Materials and their Testing" introduces the reader to the basic construction materials like cement, aggregate, concrete, steel and brick. It gives an account of their origin, classifications, engineering properties, qualities, and standard tests. Each test includes its objective, apparatus/equipments, material requirements, formula, precautions and stepwise procedure in a lucid manner. Space for observations and results are also provided. Factors affecting different materials properties are also covered. It also deals with the functioning and maintenance of a variety of well-labeled apparatus and modern testing machines. 25 cm. Remote sensing and geographic information system par Chandra, A. M. Publication : [S.l.] Alpha Science Intl Ltd 2006 . 250 p. , This comprehensive text on Remote Sensing and Geographical Information System (GIS) presents the fundamentals of the emerging technology of remote sensing combined with GIS. It provides sufficient knowledge of these technologies applied in different fields avoiding voluminous details required at research level. The first part introduces the basics of remote sensing leading up to data analysis. An exhaustive discussion on various types of sensors and their uses has been included to make the readers understand clearly their utilities. The second part presents the highly technical field of Geographic Information System, a tool that now finds applications in almost all fields of engineering, science, geography, planning, and decision-making. 25 cm. Structural analysis par Menon, Devdas. Publication : [S.l.] Alpha Science Intl Ltd 2008 . 1232 p. , Structural Analysis is a basic under-graduate text presenting fresh insight and clarity. The contents are divided into five distinct but related parts (comprising 22 chapters), exploring sequentially and comprehensively the basic and advanced concepts of structural mechanics. Many issues related to the finer aspects of the theory are explored in detail. This includes numerous applications, including short-cut methods of analyzing indeterminate structures. Topics that are commonly ill-understood by engineers, such as the principle of virtual work, energy methods and displacement methods, are discussed with emphasis on clarity in understanding and developing a physical feel . The main objective is to enable the student to have a good grasp of all the fundamental issues in this subject, besides enjoying the learning process, and developing analytical and intuitive skills. 25 cm.
